The Oculus 104 is undoubtedly a remarkable boat. Finnish designer Kai Salo designed the boat as a graduation project at the School of Art and Design. Unique to this boat is that only four were ultimately produced. There was great interest in this new approach to recreational boating—approximately 2,700 requests were received—but the oil crisis of the early 1970s led to financial difficulties, forcing the project to a halt. The four boats delivered remained as the result.
